Program Curricula
Creative Curriculum
The focus of the Creative Curriculum is to help children become enthusiastic learners. The curriculum identifies goals in four areas of development:
Social: To help children feel comfortable in school, trust their new environment, make friends, and feel they are part of a group.
Emotional: To help children gain pride and self-confidence, develop independence and self-control, and have a positive attitude towards life.
Cognitive: To help children become confident learners by letting them try out their own ideas and experience success. The Creative Curriculum aids children in acquiring learning skills enabling them to solve problems, ask questions, and use words to describe their ideas, observations, and feelings.
Physical: To help children increase their large and small muscle skills and feel confident about what their bodies can do.

Tools of the Mind Curriculum
Tools of the Mind is a comprehensive curriculum including content that meets all state and national standards. It is based upon a specific set of beliefs about how children learn. Mature intentional make-believe play forms the foundation of cognitive and emotional self-regulation development.

In a Tools preschool:
Practice in self-regulated learning is embedded in all activities. Tools instructional interactions are planned to scaffold each child’s learning and to help teachers be effective in identifying specific teachable moments. Teachers focus on helping children become intentional and reflective learners, creating a classroom in which instruction in literacy, mathematics, and science reflects each child’s learning capacity.

Partnering Programs

FAMILY FOCUS
Family Focus offers a 4-year-old program designed to assist children in successfully entering kindergarten. During the year children develop strong social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills. The Family Focus Bath Early Learning Center utilizes a child’s natural inclination to play, to imitate, and to experiment in order to teach social competence and school readiness. Daily activities include free choice, small group and large group experiences.

Family Focus uses the Creative Curriculum and the Tools of the Mind Curriculum to observe and assess children and thoughtfully plan the environment to assist children in their development. Daily activities take place in creative arts, early language and literacy, health and physical education, mathematics, science, and social studies.

YMCA
The YMCA enrichment program offers a safe, caring environment where each child is encouraged to learn new skills, express him/herself freely and explore the environment. Through the Creative Curriculum teachers facilitate independence, self-esteem and problem solving skills. The environment is designed to promote social-emotional, language, cognitive, and physical skills. Children learn risk-taking and build self-confidence through the use of process oriented activities.

Individual and group activities as well as free and structured playtime comprise our day. Teachers observe, write anecdotal observations, and interact with children daily. The goal is to maintain a stimulating environment and meet the needs of each child at his/her own level of kindergarten readiness.
